Xenia Area Community Theater was born on February 19, 2005 with
the intention of providing an arts presence in the city of
Xenia. There had been no live theater in Xenia since the 'Xenia
Players' disbanded in 1974 after the Xenia Tornado destroyed
their performance venue.
Orion Monroe, a
Xenia native, began discussing the proposition of forming a true
community theater with former Mayor John Saraga, former
Publisher of the Greene County Dailies Fred Gibson, and former
City manager Bill Barlow in Early December 2004. Orion had
successfully managed several community and equity enterprises
for over 15 years. He agreed to meet with area citizens at a
town meeting at the Holiday Inn of Xenia. He was met with
enthusiasm, support, and advice from Xenia residents and
business owners.
Today, X*ACT is
growing. We have secured a permanent venue and a dedicated
audience. We are far from our goal of self sufficiency, however
we have never operated in the red. Money, time, and resources
that are donated to X*ACT are used for growth, not for repayment
of past debt or obligations.
We are very
thankful for the time, talent, and enthusiasm that Greene County
and surrounding area residents have provided and continue to
provide. X*ACT is a true community theater, owned by and built
for our patrons, supporters, and Arts enthusiasts.
We are a
family. This is what we are most proud of and what we strive to
preserve by every action, event, and production that we offer.
Xenia is the City of Hospitality: X*ACT embraces this attitude
and we will continue to strive to be a quality and valuable
asset to the community. Our theater is your theater!
